The time of year is coming when you will start seeing the changes with your Medicare plan for 2025. You should expect an Annual Notice of Change to arrive from your insurance carrier in September and new plan information will be available to everyone starting October 1st.
Here’s an overview of the different times you can enroll:
The Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is for enrolling near your 65th birthday. For those who become eligible due to age, it includes your 65th birthday month, the 3 months before and 3 months after. Your IEP begins and ends one month earlier if your birthday is on the first of the month.
The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is when you can join, switch or drop a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan. For those who want to make changes, Annual Enrollment is October 15- December 7th.
The Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment (MAOEP) you can switch or drop Medicare Advantage Plans. You can make one change to your coverage between January 1st and March 31st.
A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) when you can enroll in a plan due to a qualifying life event. A few examples of this would include moving or retiring.
